Downtown and Nearby Attractions

Perhaps best known for the Alamo, a former Franciscan mission constructed in 1738, and the site of the “Battle of the Alamo”, a pivotal event in the Texan Revolution. For Texans, the Battle of the Alamo became an enduring symbol of their heroic resistance to oppression and their struggle for independence, which they won in 1836. Be sure to pay a visit to this infamous site while you are here!

San Antonio’s beautiful River Walk is another attraction you certainly don’t want to miss. The River Walk is considered a city park and consists of a network of walkways along the banks of the serene San Antonio River. It is lined by restaurants, bars, shops, and artwork. Treat yourself to a leisurely walk after classes to give your brain a well-deserved break!

Just a few more options for your pleasure include the San Antonio Zoo, SeaWorld San Antonio, and San Antonio Botanical Garden.
